Botox Anti-Wrinkle Treatment

Botox Anti-wrinkle Treatment

Over one and a half million people worldwide have received Botox® treatments and its newly arrived partner Vistabel®. Both products contain the same botulinum protein but are just packaged for different applications. Vistabel® is a smaller, 50 unit vial bottle whereas Botox® contains 100 units.

Facial lines and wrinkles are caused partly by repeated use of the muscles underneath which over many years will cause the appearance of permanent creases. For lots of people these can create a tired or stressed appearance. It is possible to ease these by resting the underlying muscle with Botox® or Vistabel® injection treatments.

At Freedomhealth, you will only see a qualified medical practitioner who will assess both your suitability for treatment and also advise on any risks or contraindications. We do not use beauticians or aestheticians or any other non-medically qualified personnel to administer Botox treatment.

Botox® treatment at Freedomhealth is personalised to you.

The areas most commonly treated with Botox are:

Frown lines between the eyebrows, the crows feet around the eyes and also the lines which go across the forehead. We can also use Botox® around the mouth although this carries special risks which will be fully discussed before this is contemplated. We can also add to the effect using special dermal fillers such as Juvederm Volift, Volbella or Voluma. We also offer Restylane, Perlane and Sub-Q.

Are Botox® and Vistabel® safe?

Yes it is safe. Millions of people have been treated with Botox® and had excellent results. It is a quick and relatively simple procedure which really can be done in a lunchtime. There is very little downtime and most people will leave our offices with a few little pin pricks to the treated area but little else. Very tiny needles are used and so the procedure is almost painless. It is the fastest growing cosmetic procedure in the UK but it is important to realise that it is not surgery and is not designed to replace it.

How long does the Botox® effect last?

Usually you can expect the effect to last about three months or so. Some people are lucky and it will last much beyond that time, but three months is an average. Effects take from a few days to two weeks to take full effect. At Freedomhealth we would encourage people, especially if newly treated, to return to us at about a week or so, so we can be sure all is well, that you are happy and if need be, give a free top-up treatment.

Is Botox® suitable for every one?

No, Botox® is not suitable for everyone. There are some groups of people who should avoid it altogether. These include pregnant women; breast feeding women; patients taking certain types of medications including the antibiotics erythromycin or azithromycin; patients with neuromuscular conditions such as myasthenia gravis. Patients taking ibuprofen, plavix, aspirin, warfarin, viagra, and cialis are much more likely to bleed and consequently bruise. This is not a reason to avoid Botox® completely but to be aware that bruising is more likely. In addition, experience shows that patients who have been drinking alcohol heavily in the preceding few days are much more likely to bruise. Usually I used to buy the original Viagra but when my friend told me he buys generic Viagra from ViagraGen.com, I decided to try it and did not see any tangible difference. No side effects happen.

What can go wrong with Botox® treatments?

The most common complication is a bruise at the injection site. These are rare but are usually small. A known side effect but fortunately quite a rare one is to develop a droopy eyelid. This can be avoided by carefully assessing the patient, careful injection technique and adopting a cautious approach. The aim at Freedomhealth is a natural relaxed look rather than a startled one.
