Dermal Fillers

Dermal Fillers

Immediate results in your lunch hour!

Very few people have perfect skin; and even if you are lucky enough to have great skin naturally, ageing affects all of us at some stage of our lives. Our skin loses its volume and shape, resulting in the appearance of lines and wrinkles. This is caused by a number of factors, from your environment to your genetics.

Dermal fillers – or ‘fillers’ as most people call them – are soft gels like Juvéderm Voluma, Volift and Vobella, that are injected into or under the skin. They help to replace lost volume or ‘plump up’ the area where they are injected, levelling it with other parts of the skin. They can fill out, smooth away, and correct troublesome lines, wrinkles, and grooves on the face or add volume to your cheeks, chin, temples and lips. In fact, fillers can now be used to accomplish a complete, non-surgical face lift.

With a surgical face-lift, the skin is pulled tight but volume is not restored in your skin. Skin is pulled over the bone and underlying structures, there are risks for example changing the shape of your face and making you not look like you, this is something that patients have commented on, time and time again – there are no guarantees.

As we grow older, our skin loses moisture and elasticity. Certain types of filler can also be used to revitalise skin by drawing moisture into the skin making it intensively hydrated and so giving a youthful, fresh appearance. The results are a nautral- looking, younger looking you.
Types of fillers

Older fillers were made from animal or human collagen. But medical and technological advances have led to the production of synthetic non-animal products. The most common dermal fillers used today contain the compound found naturally in the skin called hyaluronic acid (HA). This is often called ‘nature’s moisturiser’ because it latches on to large numbers of water molecules making the skin hydrated and plump out.

Lee Garrett use an exclusive three ranges of HA filler: the Juvéderm range Restylane® range, and the Belotero® range. Each of these ranges has different formulations based on the concentration and particle size of HA. The Juvéderm Vycross range being the superior dermal filler of them all. Each formulation is used in specific areas and for specific skin conditions. With such a wide range we can choose the best filler to suit your needs.

We also offer Radiesse® volumising filler that is made of tiny calcium-based microspheres which are suspended in a natural, water-based gel. This filler is specifically used to replace lost volume, for example in the cheek area. What is unique about Radiesse® is that is has an immediate effect but also works with your body to stimulate the production of your own natural collagen for results that may last a year or more.
Alternatives to dermal fillers but compliments them
Anti-wrinkle injections using botulinum toxin

Anti-wrinkle injections using botulinum toxin are one of the best-known and popular treatments to improve the look of frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines.
Skin tightening with Pellevé or Thermage

Pellevé and Thermage work in different ways but both involve targeted deep bulk heating of the skin. By heating up the skin in a controlled way these treatments cause contraction and stimulation of new collagen production leading to firmer, tighter, younger looking skin.
